Studies

Painting small studies is something I can lose myself in. Playing around with colour, shapes and texture on a small scale is somehow freeing. I usually spend a bit of time with studies to investigate the interaction between elements, composition and overall feel, before committing to painting the piece on a larger scale. These are all unique, original paintings by me, generally painted with acrylics (sometimes mixed media) on offcut archival watercolour paper or canvas. My 90 year old Mum walks a couple of kilometres every day to feed the horse down the road (it’s a very slow walk). And every time I’ve made this walk I’ve been distracted by these 3 trees. To take photos of them, I have to run the gauntlet of being yelled at by three dogs. But I’m NOT DAUNTED! I must paint it again!
